Mood/Title: Community Focus and Scribe Paperwork
Spent the early hours of the morning picking up a few items, including some Naya armbands and a new hairbase pack. Later on, decided to do some exploring around Olni, walking the walls and mapping out the tunnel paths to see exactly how they link up with the closest entrances to my house.
By mid-morning, I traveled over to the new Academy of Gor at Thunder Mountain. I ran into Kat Antoninus, who gave me an incredible tour of the setup. She is building a completely community-focused, city-neutral space designed to get people straight into storytelling and roleplay guidelines without making them pass years of static courses. The academy features hands-on training rooms for scribes and physicians, alongside an impressive character-building welcome center that outfits players based on their chosen gender and region. We found ourselves on a very similar page—it takes her vision a step or two further than the city rules project I had initially conceptualized back in Teletus. I filled out a blank form on the desk to sign up as a mentor for the community. We also had a chat about Abe, who has a short fuse and a tendency to want to standardize everything, which can conflict with fluid storytelling.
Returned to Port Olni by midday to discover that Balkan Sands and Talora were waiting at my house. Talora came with an unexpected request: she wants to formally disown her daughter via a separation document to prevent her from passing off a companion slave's child as a true grandchild. Since Olni's paperwork is a bit sparse at the moment, I checked our library indexes, and Layla searched the lower document shelves. Sorana was able to pass along a couple of standard scribe templates, including a dissolution of companionship document, which gave me the perfect foundation to modify. Layla prepared some warm mead for my nerves while I sat at the desk drafting the customized separation form.
Later in the afternoon, I joined Jarek, Ana, and Libbi at the tavern over blackwine. Ana and I had a laugh about wanting to wear our hair down to avoid the hassle of pinning it up, and Jarek teased me about the new northern ear-loop earrings I tried out today. We spent the rest of the time listening to Jarek share old stories of his mercenary encounters in the city, followed by a discussion on the importance of updated ownership papers and kennel management. Libbi helped celebrate her birthday with some lighthearted banter about last night's "leaky mead horn" before the group split up. Followed Jarek out to the training fields up on the hill to watch the combat practice for the rest of the evening before heading back to the house to retire.
To Do:
Finalize and execute the formal separation/disowning document for Talora and Balkan Sands when they return.
Keep in touch with Kat Antoninus regarding the official launch of the Academy of Gor.
Complete the mentor form details to submit for the Academy's launch.
Sort through the standard scribe forms passed along by Sorana to add to the study files.
Ensure Layla keeps up the steady momentum on the first batch of Olni library scroll copies.
