SETTING:

By-the-book Gorean roleplay, based on John Norman’s Gorean Saga.

  

FACTIONS:


City of Teletus – Harbor, Market, Temples, Residences

Sharkbait Cove – Pirate haven for outlaws, smugglers, and raiders


All players are expected to respect the lore, tone, and spirit of Gorean roleplay, while maintaining a fair, immersive, and enjoyable experience.

1. General OOC Rules

Respect first: No harassment, insults, racism, sexism, or personal attacks.


Consent matters: Gorean RP is harsh, but OOC limits (e.g. torture, permanent harm, sexual RP) must be respected. Share your limits in profile or IMs.


Adult content: Age verification required. No avatars resembling minors.


Immersion: Keep OOC chat to IMs or OOC groups, not local IC.


AFK tags: Use “AFK” or “OOC” tags when out of character.


No metagaming/godmodding: Don’t use OOC info IC, or control others without consent.


ICA = ICC: In-Character Actions = In-Character Consequences.


Drama-free zone: OOC drama, griefing, or disruption may result in bans.

2. Combat Rules

Meter: ZcS Combat Meter required.


Weapons: Gorean-style only (spears, bows, swords, daggers, shields). No modern/sci-fi items.


Armor: Must be Gorean-appropriate. No invulnerability items or unfair HUDs.

2.a. Raiding etiquette:

At least 3 defenders must be present.


Raids must be announced in group channels.


Max duration: 2 hours.


24-hour cool-down between raids.


No logging in mid-raid to defend.


Capture & bindings: The captured individual must be named, and the binding roleplay must include at least three detailed emotes, each no fewer than ten words.


Healing: Must be role played. 1 Gorean day = 1 RL day for recovery.


Safe zones: Arrival docks, admin areas, and landing points are non-combat.

3. Roleplay Guidelines

Free Men (FM): Authority figures; may collar slaves, duel, raid, enforce laws or pirate codes. Expected to honor Gorean codes.


Free Women (FW): Dignity and modesty required. Cannot engage in combat (exceptions: disguise/outlaw). May own slaves, run businesses, or be ransomed/collared if captured.

Slaves: Must accept role consistent with books. Cannot fight (except fighting slaves). Cannot refuse RP unless it violates stated OOC limits.

4. Factions

City of Teletus: Governed by Castes. Piracy outlawed. Citizens uphold laws and order.


Sharkbait Cove: Pirate haven; no caste structure. Survival and might rule. Outlaws risk capture or execution if caught in the City.

5. Castes & Codes

◈═══════════════════════◈

High Castes: Initiates, Scribes, Physicians, Builders, Warriors.


Initiates: Spiritual leaders; no weapons or bloodshed.


Scribes: Legal/record keepers.


Physicians: Healing roleplay required.


Builders: Ships, defenses, infrastructure.


Warrior Code: Courage, honor, loyalty—no cowardice, oath-breaking, or cruelty.


Low Castes: Merchants, Sailors, Fishermen, Slavers, etc.

6. Raids & Captures

◈═══════════════════════◈

Raids allowed between City and Cove under combat rules.


Captives must RP for up to 2 hours max unless agreed otherwise.


Escapes must be role played—NPCs will see who exits the City and how.


Ransom & slavery:


Free may be ransomed, exchanged, or enslaved.


FW may be collared.


Captured slaves become property of captors unless ransomed.

7. ICA = ICC

In-character insults, defiance, or crimes may lead to IC punishment.


Death, mutilation, or permanent changes require OOC consent.


Choices carry consequences: traitors risk outlawry, pirates risk death if caught.
