Exhausted and Feeling Undervalued

Journal Entry: July 28, 2026
Location: Turmus & Olni
Title: Exhausted and Feeling Undervalued

Today was an incredibly long and emotionally draining day, full of mixed signals and frustrations. My morning started off pleasantly enough in Turmus, chatting with Carola over blackwine about the four major cornerstones of our society—the Home Stone, the Caste System, Priest-Kings, and Natural Order. She generously shared her notes on Pani Culture and the Monetary System, which I look forward to reading when things quiet down. I also tried to attend Skylar’s class in Lara, but the sim restarts meant no one showed up, which ironically made me feel a bit better about my own empty rooms lately.

The real struggle came later in the afternoon. After enduring eight grueling hours of meetings and teaching, the Olni city meeting left me feeling betrayed and humiliated. Instead of addressing the low attendance of my classes privately, I was chastised publicly. Then, my updated schedule was completely ignored, and the old one was posted instead. It feels like they simply aren’t listening to me. Furthermore, there was an incident with a free woman running through the streets wearing nothing but a veil. The handling of the situation and the magistrate duties felt completely mismanaged; I was told I was the only magistrate available to discipline her when there were actually three of us present. It brought back bad memories of how hard I worked and how poorly I was treated in Teletus.

On a domestic note, the loss of Layla is still upsetting. I finally managed to catch Nicholas Eel to discuss finding a replacement—someone who is a good worker, a good cook, and active during my usual hours. I finished the evening venting to Aries and Odette, which helped soothe my nerves, but I am glad this day is finally over.

To Do:

  • Read Carola's notes on Pani Culture and the Monetary System.

  • Follow up with Nicholas Eel regarding the procurement of a new slave girl.

  • Monitor class attendance at the Educational Hall.

  • Ensure the correct teaching schedule is distributed and understood by the city to avoid further confusion.

⊰════════════════════════════⊱

Meeting Summary: Morning Educational Exchange Attendees: Lady Kati Evans, Carola Aromata Titus Key Discussion Points:

  • Discussed the placement and visibility of the new class schedule signs near the tavern to prevent citizens from having to travel all the way to the Educational Hall just to check times.

  • Reviewed the "Pillars of Gor" (Cornerstones of Society): Home Stone, Caste System, Priest-Kings & Gorean Law, and Natural Order & Gender Dynamics.

  • Exchanged educational materials; Carola provided transcripts on Pani Culture and the Monetary System of Gor for future reference.

⊰════════════════════════════⊱

Meeting Summary: Slave Procurement Consultation Attendees: Lady Kati Evans, Nicholas Eel (Slaver) Key Discussion Points:

  • Discussed the procurement of a new slave girl to replace Layla.

  • Established requirements: Needs to be active during my typical hours (6 AM – 5 PM SLT), well-trained, a good worker, and a skilled cook.

  • Clarified restrictions: Hair color does not matter, and she will be unrestricted (not exclusively a tower girl, allowed with others).

  • Nicholas confirmed new stock is arriving soon and will keep an eye out for a suitable match.

⊰════════════════════════════⊱

Meeting Summary: Olni City Meeting (Retrospective Review) Attendees: Lady Kati Evans, Olni City Officials/Citizens Key Discussion Points:

  • Attendance at the Educational Hall classes was brought up publicly rather than addressed in a private, constructive manner.

  • A scheduling error occurred where an official posted the old class schedule despite having been sent the updated textures and times.

  • Addressed a disciplinary issue regarding a woman repeatedly running through the city wearing only a veil. Miscommunications occurred regarding magistrate presence and duties, leading to a severe lack of alignment among the city's leadership.

Advanced Gorean Economics Class and the Merchant Fair Scavenger Hunt

 Journal Entry: July 27, 2026

Location: Turmus

Title: Advanced Gorean Economics Class and the Merchant Fair Scavenger Hunt

Today was a busy day filled with organizing schedule displays, participating in the Merchant Fair activities, and teaching a scheduled class. Early in the day, I focused on updating and testing the display boards for my upcoming class schedule, ensuring all dates, titles, and topics were properly configured.

Later, I headed out to the Turmus Merchant Fair along the Nile River to work on the Merchant Quest. While exploring the fairgrounds and searching for hidden clue boxes near the landmarks and fountains, I ran into several acquaintances including Carola, Aries, and Rhiannon. We chatted about the quest clues and discussed everyday city matters, including cooking pots for vulo stew.

In the late afternoon, I hosted and taught my class, The Merchant's Ledger: Advanced Gorean Economics. We covered the economic structures of Gorean cities, including concrete currency standards, caste monopolies, and municipal strategic reserves. The session went well with good engagement and questions from attendees regarding currency standards and trade laws before we concluded for the evening.

To Do:

  • Follow up with Nick regarding a new girl at the slave house later this week.

  • Review the class schedule displays to ensure upcoming August dates remain accurate.

Meeting Summary

Meeting/Class Title: Market: 41 The Merchant's Ledger: Advanced Gorean Economics

Time: 5:00 PM – 5:43 PM

Location: Turmus Class Area

Instructor: Lady Kati Evans

Attendees: Carola Aromata Titus, Petra Poliatevska, Anja Steinnsdottir (BilliAnn), Cougar, Aries Marchese, Kizzy Zan, Natalia Steele Horchester, Nicholas Eel

Key Discussion Points & Topics Covered:

  • Economic Foundations: Discussion on municipal self-sufficiency, caste-regulated wealth distribution, and how trade is structured as a mechanism for state survival under local statutes and Gorean law.

  • Three Operational Realities:

    1. Concrete Currency Standard: The rejection of abstract credit/fiat concepts in favor of physical coin transactions (Gold Tarsk, Silver Tarsk, copper bits).

    2. Caste Monopoly System: Strict adherence to guild/caste charters and trade licenses to prevent individual economic overreach.

    3. Strategic Reserve Tax: Municipal tariffs collected on incoming goods (grain, iron, textiles) to supply central granaries and public arsenals against sieges or shortages.

  • Clarifications & Book References:

    • Carola clarified the local administrative distinction regarding registering Castes/sub-castes and filing business licenses directly with the city.

    • Petra provided a textual reference (Smugglers of Gor, Book 32, Page 522) regarding Gold Tarsks in response to Anja's query.

  • Practical Scenario: Evaluated a scenario involving a foreign trader attempting to circulate paper "Certificates of Cargo Value." Established that under local laws, unbacked paper credit is treated as economic subversion resulting in cargo confiscation, vessel forfeiture, and public destruction of the paper tokens.

A Long Day of Lessons, Loss, and Warnings

 Journal Entry: 2026/07/26

Location: Turmus / Olni

Title: A Long Day of Lessons, Loss, and Warnings

The day began on a heavy note. Upon logging in, I received word that my girl Layla had fled south toward the Tahari. Finding myself alone once again with seven silvers lost was a bitter pill to swallow, but Kaellaed offered comfort and shared a shortcut through the alleyways of his apartment complex near the library to help lift my spirits. Later, Jona dropped by, but I had to explain why as a Magistrate I cannot take on a male slave due to the legal complications and personal risks involved, after which he took his leave.

The afternoon was filled with back-to-back lectures and crucial community meetings. In Turmus, Madame Gyre and her apprentice Minayori delivered an exquisite presentation on Pani culture, covering their clan structures, the unique role of Contract Women, and demonstrating a traditional summer tea ceremony focused on chōwa (harmony) and seasonal reverence.

Afterward, I returned to Olni for our city-wide meeting. Captain Falconer and Ubar Jarek placed Olni on a formal war footing following the attack on our allies in Venna and the capture of Vixen by Ulfholt. We reviewed raid protocols, defense measures, and the proper use of the warning bells. During the meeting, concerns were raised regarding the low attendance at my educational classes, though Captain Falconer assured me he would help coordinate reminder scrolls and schedule listings to boost participation. Following the city meeting, I attended Lady Carola’s Merchant Academy workshop on branding and shop layout, followed immediately by Kaellaed’s insightful lecture on the interplay between Merchant Law and Civil Law.

To wind down such an exhausting eight-hour day of meetings, I visited Kaellaed’s apartment, where his rented slave, Lora, served us hot tea with milk. It was a comforting end to a long, demanding day.

To Do:

  • Draft a scroll of class times and send it to Lady Ana and Captain Falconer for group posting and calendar updates.

  • Review the lecture notes provided by Kaellaed (Merchant Law and Civil Law) and the scroll on Pani culture handed over by Lora.

  • Check in with the bank regarding recent coin deposits.

  • Coordinate with Captain Falconer after the city meeting regarding strategies to improve class attendance.

  • Keep an ear out for defensive alerts and stay vigilant while Olni remains on war footing.

  • Key Topics & Discussions:

    • Pani Society & Values: Madame Gyre explained the cultural emphasis on honor, clan hierarchies, branch houses, and the concept of Honor above blood.

    • Social Roles:

      • Slaves: Trained in formal obedience, silence, and discipline; reflect the honor of their House.

      • Free Men & Women: Defined by duty and contribution rather than strictly caste. Discussed arranged companionships where duty and affection coexist.

      • Contract Women: Skilled, independent free women (artists, performers, entertainers) bound by service contracts, distinct from owned slaves (kajirae).

    • Tea Ceremony Demonstration: Minayori demonstrated both Simple Tea (casual, comfort-focused) and a full Chanoyu Tea Ceremony (focused on chōwa/harmony, seasonal sweets, bowl purification, and respectful presentation using both hands).

    • Pani Food & Attire: Briefly covered traditional layered garments (kosode, kimono, obi, geta) and coastal/island cuisine.

  • Host/Speakers: Captain Falconer McKeenan and Ubar Jarek SpiritWeaver

  • Location: Olni Council Chambers / City

    • Scribe & Educational Report: Lady Ana reported on Scribe duties and noted low attendance for Lady Kati's classes. Captain Falconer and Lady Ana offered to help promote class times via group announcements and schedule listings.

    • Raid & Defense Protocols:

      • Detailed raid rules: Defense ratio is 1:1+1 (defenders must be active Free Men warriors). Residences remain safe zones unless defenders engage and retreat back inside.

      • Tarn Rules: Max 2 tarns per side, must be rezzed at the onset, metered at 20 HP, no mid-battle re-rezzing.

      • City Alarms: Demonstrated the Olni Warning Bell and All-Clear bell. Emphasized that only an Olni official can sound a valid All-Clear.

    • Sim Tiers & Community Guidelines: Ubar Jarek clarified that no sims are closing, reassured the community regarding sim tier funding, and reminded everyone that group chats are not to be used for monetary solicitations or personal grievances.

    • Upcoming Events: Monthly Festival of Steel (Saturday), Arena Training (Wednesdays @ 5 PM SLT), and initial planning for Olni's 17th Anniversary in September.

    • Branding & Signage: Importance of clean, readable signs (Who are you? What do you sell? Cost? How to buy?) and avoid visual clutter or tiny text.

    • Shop Layout & Presentation: Categorizing items, using vertical shelf displays, avoiding overcrowding, and using thematic decorations.

    • Pricing & Communication: Clear pricing (zCS coins), notecards for item lore/RP context, and the necessity of maintaining a Mail Box for customer orders while offline.

    • Roleplay & Customer Experience: Encouraged merchants to engage visitors with stories and background lore rather than just static sales.

    • Field Trip Q&A: Ended with a practical walk-through of vendor setup options, free-giver scripts, and displaying products effectively.

⊰════════════════════════════⊱

Meeting 4: Merchant Law vs. Civil Law Lecture

  • Host/Speaker: Ambassador Kaellaed Rhode

  • Location: Merchant Academy Podium / Turmus

  • Key Topics & Discussions:

    • Civil Law vs. Merchant Law:

      • Civil Law: Localized "within the Home Stone walls," governing property, companionship, and criminal offenses under traditional Gorean societal norms.

      • Merchant Law: Universal across Gor (maintained at Sardar Fairs), governing trade standards, coinage values (gold tarn disc), weight/measurement standardization, and regional trade monopolies (e.g., black wine).

    • Inter-Caste Cooperation: Highlighted that commerce relies on the collaboration of Merchants (trade/quality), Scribes (legal contracts/records), Physicians (injury/health standards), and Warriors (enforcement).

    • Enforcement Debate: ThunderBolt Kanto raised points regarding the historical judicial authority of Merchant Magistrates over market fraud, leading to a friendly discussion on how civil warriors/magistrates and merchant authorities overlap in city governance.

Opening Day at the Turmus Grand Merchant Fair

 Journal Entry: July 25, 2026

Location: Olni & Turmus

Mood/Title: Opening Day at the Turmus Grand Merchant Fair

Started the day getting dressed in Olni and making sure my outfits and veils were set before teleporting over to Turmus for opening day of the Grand Merchant Fair. I spent time at the Educational Hall (Building #25) reorganizing the schedule board and checking over my class notes. My girl Layla was unwell, so I arranged with Cheryl and Jean to step in and help keep the hall tidy while she recovers.

Out on the fairgrounds, the city was bustling with merchants and visitors. Kaellaed Rhode and I caught up near the booths to discuss his upcoming presentation on Merchant Law and Civil Law, as well as my presentation on Advanced Gorean Economics. Later, I joined Ramius, Lady Carola, Ubara Selia, Captain Alen, Andros Mosely, and several others at the main pavilion for the official opening of Merchant Row. We listened to announcements about the fair schedule, upcoming skald stories, and a panther skill demonstration outside the gates. Spent the rest of the afternoon strolling through the market stalls, admiring the decorated booths, and checking in with Carola as more traders arrived to fill the remaining stalls.

To Do:

  • Attend Kaellaed's presentation on Merchant Law tomorrow at 6:30 PM SLT.

  • Finalize materials for my presentation "The Merchant's Ledger: Advanced Gorean Economics" at the Merchant Academy on Monday.

  • Check on Layla and see how Cheryl and Jean are doing with cleaning the Educational Hall.

Scribe Archives in Turmus & Early Morning Exchanges

 Journal Entry: July 24, 2026

Location: Turmus & Olni

Mood/Title: Scribe Archives in Turmus & Early Morning Exchanges

Spent time early in the morning in Turmus at the Scribe Hall working through the city records and registry archives. I reviewed several blank forms and citizen registration documents, including files from last year and recent updates for this summer's arrivals.

While resting over blackwine, Lady Carola joined me to discuss Gorean fortune tellers and look over some book references and historical perspectives. A visiting traveler, Serkan (佐藤海人 Kaitō Satō), wandered into the Educational Hall to look around. After inspecting our blackwine teapot, he offered Carola a splash of cognac from his flask—a gesture she politely declined before handing him an invitation to the Grand Merchant Fair starting tomorrow.

Later in the morning, I traveled between shopping spots to pick up a few new clothing items and accessories before returning to Olni to organize my inventory and review the transcripts sent over by Trygg for the recent Scribe Caste meeting.

To Do:

  • Finalize preparations for the Turmus Grand Merchant Fair opening tomorrow (July 25th).

  • Review class materials for the upcoming "Free vs. Bond" discussion on Tuesday, July 28th.

  • Check in on the Educational Hall setup before the fair crowds arrive.

Teaching "Slave Discipline" in Turmus & Thursday Games in Olni

 Journal Entry: July 23, 2026

Location: Turmus & Olni

Mood/Title: Teaching "Slave Discipline" in Turmus & Thursday Games in Olni

Started the day in Turmus preparing for my lecture and gathering notes at the Educational Hall. Late morning, I joined Lady Odette, Willow, Sabayna, and Pionika for a Free Woman dance meeting. We caught up on dance troupe news, tried out Geisha fan dances from Abranimations, and discussed upcoming performances for the Sheen troupe at Isfahan and Thunder Mountain.

At 4:00 PM SLT, I hosted my class on "The Rights and Framework of Slave Discipline" in building #25. We had a wonderful turnout, including Ubara Selia, Advocate Aries, Slaver Nicholas Eel, ThunderBolt Kanto, and several kajirae. We covered the legal and cultural distinction between public city stock and private property, corrective protocols, hair shearing laws, and historical perspectives from John Norman's scrolls.

After class wrapped up, I headed over to Olni for Thursday game night with Lance. Brooke and Carmen joined us for a few lively rounds of Hand and Foot Canasta. We chatted about Olni life and upcoming Tuesday tavern dances before calling it a night.

To Do:

  • Prepare for the Turmus Merchant Fair (July 25th – August 1st) and check out the decorated market stalls.

  • Prepare materials for the next discussion class: "Free vs. Bond" scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th.

  • Follow up with Lady Selia regarding city announcements for future Educational Hall sessions.

⊰════════════════════════════⊱

Lecture Notes: The Rights and Framework of Slave Discipline

  • Event Type: Educational Hall Lecture & Discussion

  • Location: Educational Hall (Building #25), Turmus

  • Instructor: Lady Kati Evans

  • Attendees: Ubara Selia (violet325), Advocate Aries Marchese (d3athmak3r3), Slaver Nicholas Eel, ThunderBolt Kanto, Lady Carola, Lady Iona, Trygg Tyran, Cheryl (cherylsue.snoodle), Amalia (amaliajimenez), Jean (jean1), Darla/Aurora (darlagraysun), Lora (hannalora), Mel (melanie.fiddlesticks), Uli Roff, and others.

Key Presentation & Discussion Points:

  • Purpose of Discipline:

    • Discipline maintains civic order and proper protocol; a slave's behavior reflects on the entire city and their owner's honor.

    • Correction is non-malicious and intended to restore alertness and deference.

  • Public Stock vs. Private Property:

    • Public Stock: Any free citizen has the right to correct public city slaves immediately on the spot for protocol breaches.

    • Private Property: Free citizens may issue commands and deliver minor, non-damaging physical reminders (such as a reprimand or quick slap) to private slaves who fail to yield or show proper honorifics.

    • Property Restitution: Free citizens must never permanently injure, brand, or destroy another citizen's private property. Severe infractions must be handled by the owner or brought to the Magistrate's Court.

  • Hair Shearing Laws:

    • It is strictly illegal under Gorean commercial law to cut a slave's hair without the owner's explicit permission, as hair represents substantial commercial asset value. Unauthorized shearing constitutes property destruction requiring full financial restitution.

  • Graduated Correction Levels:

    • Minor: Verbal reprimand, slap, repeating protocol for missed greetings or posture slips.

    • Moderate: Temporary placement in public stocks or binding at the city gates for public disturbances or slacking on errands.

    • Severe: Scourging, branding, or referral to hard labor (e.g., Salt Mines of Klima) for runaways, theft, or treason.

Class Schedule Setup & Touring the Merchant Academy in Turmus

 Journal Entry: July 21, 2026

Location: Olni & Turmus

Mood/Title: Class Schedule Setup & Touring the Merchant Academy in Turmus

Started the day in Olni, where I prepared for the scheduled "Tavern Etiquette" discussions. However, after no attendees arrived for the early session, I moved over to Turmus to focus my time on organizing the new Educational Hall (Building #25).

While working at the hall, I caught up with Lady Carola and Lady Cherry over morning blackwine at the inn. We discussed the upcoming Grand Merchant Fair starting July 25th, including the recruitment booths set up under the pavilion for the various Castes. Later in the morning, Advocate Aries stopped by with his kajira Uli to see the hall, and we discussed his proposal for a "Know Your Rights" class regarding slave discipline rules. A young male slave named Jona also visited and helped test out the seating arrangements.

In the afternoon, Carola gave me a tour of the temporary "Merchant Academy" set up on the green enclosed field near the Warriors and Builders Hall, where upcoming presentations will take place. She also showed me the Turmus Theater, and we talked through potential spatial layouts for future performances and classes. Wrapped up my tasks in Turmus before heading home as a thunderstorm rolled in.

To Do:

  • Prepare for Thursday's (July 23rd) class at 4:00 PM SLT on "The Rights and Framework of Slave Discipline" in Turmus.

  • Finalize calendar listings for the upcoming "Free vs. Bond" discussion series on Tuesday, July 28th.

School Setup, Blackwine & Planning for the Fair

 Journal Entry: July 20, 2026

Location: Turmus & Olni

Mood/Title: School Setup, Blackwine & Planning for the Fair

Spent a pleasant morning in Turmus at the inn with Lady Carola and Lady Cherry, enjoying blackwine and comparing notes on the upcoming Merchant Fair. We admired the new Caste Recruitment Booths set up under the pavilion—especially the Physicians' and Builders' spaces. During our morning conversation, we were joined by Lucius Spire (Marcus) and later by Kaellaed Rhode and Earl Physician Morrigan from the village of Fitheach. We had a lively discussion about trade agreements, Gorean wines, and city preparations.

I spent time at the new Educational Hall (Building #25) organizing the interior, setting up desks and cushions, and updating the schedule board. Kael stopped in to discuss his upcoming presentation on Merchant Law and Civil Law, which he'll be giving at the Fair's temporary Merchant Academy. A visiting male slave, Jona, also dropped by to assist and ask about training setups.

In the afternoon, I returned to Olni. Layla came by the office to tidy up, fluff cushions, and sweep the porch while I updated my Olni Class Board for tomorrow's three discussion sessions on "Tavern Etiquette." Received a nice list of proposed classes from BilliAnn for the Turmus Educational Center and the latest Merchant Fair updates from Carola before calling it an evening.

Location: Turmus & Olni

Mood/Title: Schoolhouse Calendar Planning & The Spirit of Olni

Spent part of the morning in Turmus at the new Educational Hall, chatting with ThunderBolt Kanto about calendars and getting class dates set up on the board. Afterward, I attended the Olni City Meeting and Brew n Banter session at the Central Fire.

During the meeting, Lady Huntsy introduced Lady Ranaa Pawpad as Olni's newest Physician, and they shared plans to update medical records and infirmary filing systems.  Journal Entry: July 16, 2026

Location: Olni

Mood/Title: Thursday Game Night & Learning Hand and Foot

Spent the evening in Olni joining Lance, Jasa, Freya, Hawke, Liyin, Ayita, and Kazi for our weekly Thursday game night. We gathered around the tables to play a few rounds of Greedy Greedy first. Freya took the first game with an impressive 10,300 points, during which she announced her RP character had given birth to quintuplets (three girls and two boys!). Lance won the second game with 10,150 points after some very lucky rolls.

Afterward, Lance helped walk me through the rules of Hand and Foot Canasta. He explained the basics of drawing, sorting, making sets with wild cards (2s and jokers), and properly discarding. Once we got into the rhythm of the game, I really enjoyed it and even managed to go out a couple of times! It was a fun, relaxing way to spend the evening with friends.

To Do:

  • Practice Hand and Foot Canasta rules for next week's game night.

  • Review upcoming schedule for Olni events and classes.

A very long and event-filled day. Started out early morning in Olni catching up on house details and visiting with Lady Odette. We teleported briefly to Thunder Mountain for the 8:00 AM Scribe Apprentice Class, but found the schedule had shifted to 9:00 AM due to region restarts. We waited in the lounge with Kat Antoninus and Lady Wynna Aonifall until class began. Marcus Aurelius Antoninus led a structured session on teaching methodologies, Scribe Caste objectives, and document verification protocols.

After class, I traveled to Turmus to meet with Lady Carola and Ubara Selia. Carola took me to see the cheese stall and showed me the High Caste booths she set up for the upcoming Grand Merchant Fair. I gave her feedback on the caste banner order, and we talked more about my proposal to set up a schoolhouse in Turmus at building #25.

Returned to Olni in the afternoon to attend the monthly Ladies Tea hosted by Lady Talora at the gallery. We had a great turnout, including Jasmine (Captain of Warriors from Tharna), Lady Vixen, and several visiting guests. We sat down together alongside Layla to go over the fundamentals of the Blue Caste—discussing modesty standards (like proper footwear/tights while traveling), record-keeping duties, seals, and impartiality. Handed over a stack of basic city forms for her to review. Layla also passed along new library scrolls she organized today. Ended the day early after Kara stepped away for dinner.
