LEVEL 1, TRACK 1: ETIQUETTE & SOCIAL NAVIGATION

Journal Entry: June 30, 2026
Location: Olni
Title: LEVEL 1, TRACK 1: ETIQUETTE & SOCIAL NAVIGATION

Today marked the launch of my new 10-class discussion series, Level 1, Track 1: Etiquette & Social Navigation, beginning with Class 1: Introduction to Gorean Customs. I scheduled three separate time slots throughout the day to accommodate different time zones, and overall, the launch was a great success!

Spent the early morning hours catching up with Myriam and meeting Zagan Bararaq ibn Yuroki from the Oasis of Lame Kaiila. We talked a bit about recent dynamics and administrative shifts over in Var-Kor before a region restart cut our chat short.

The first session of Intro to Customs at 7:00 AM went smoothly with good participation from Balkan Sands, Trygg Tyran, and Talora. Between sessions, I spent time doing some shopping for new dresses and outfits, as well as catching up with Layla back at the house to check in on her duties and tavern preparations.

The afternoon session at 1:00 PM didn't draw an audience, but the evening session at 7:00 PM brought out a wonderful group, including Falconer McKeenan, Tura, Anisa, and Dezora. It turned into another engaging dialogue about Gorean law, power, and natural order. Falconer also extended an open invitation to everyone for performances, poetry, and storytelling over at Brew n Banter.

Wrapped up the day feeling accomplished but completely worn out. Layla helped me up at the end of class, and I'm ready for a well-deserved rest.

To Do:

  • Organize and unpack newly acquired dresses and outfit fatpacks.

  • Prepare materials and discussion prompts for next Tuesday's Class 2 session.

Meeting Notes: Level 1, Track 1 (Class 1 - Introduction to Gorean Customs)

Session 1 (7:00 AM SLT)

  • Attendees: Balkan Sands, Trygg Tyran, Talora (xyasminx), Kati Evans

  • Key Discussion Points:

    • Illusion of Rights vs. Reality: Examined how Gorean law rejects abstract "inherent rights" in favor of natural hierarchy, biological reality, and local custom anchored to three physical pillars: soil, Caste, and Home Stone.

    • Role of Sanction: Discussed Witness of Gor (p. 9) and Magicians of Gor (p. 124), emphasizing that morality without physical force backing it is meaningless, and that order relies on the whip and the sword.

    • The Sequence of Civilization: Reviewed the foundational sequence from Tarnsman of Gor (p. 156): "First the sword, then government, then law, and then justice." Trygg noted how established power eventually cedes to codified law to maintain structure and caste order.

Session 2 (1:00 PM SLT)

  • Attendees: None (No participants present for this time slot).

Session 3 (7:00 PM SLT)

  • Attendees: Falconer McKeenan, Tura (jalanihermosa), Anisa (ritzy.starfall), Dezora, Layla (khawali.kiyori), Kati Evans

  • Key Discussion Points:

    • Rights & Status: Reiterated the three physical pillars of status (soil, Caste, Home Stone). Falconer and Tura emphasized that non-citizens have no inherent legal protections within the city walls.

    • Nature & Law: Discussed Gorean law as a reflection of natural order rather than Earth's artificial constructs. Tura shared insights on how Gorean culture is upfront about its power structures compared to soft-world pretenses.

    • Foundation of Justice: Falconer highlighted the classic quote from Tarnsman of Gor regarding the sword as the necessary precursor to government, law, and justice.

    • Community Announcement: Falconer reminded attendees that all are welcome to share poetry, music, or tales at the Brew n Banter.
