Tea, Textures, and By-the-Book Truths

Journal Entry: July 30, 2026
Location: Turmus / Nile River
Title: Tea, Textures, and By-the-Book Truths

A wonderfully relaxed and productive day starting with morning blackwine and tea on the swings with Carola, where we discussed samovars, tea varieties, and the recent Merchant Fair quest details. Later, Harbor Master Zino Davidov stopped by for a brief chat. Spent part of the midday setting up and admiring the new book displays and the large samovar in the school library, followed by a visit from ThunderBolt Kanto. In the afternoon, attended an engaging lecture at the Merchant Academy.

To Do:

  • Review upcoming class calendar and schedule adjustments

  • Check library book displays and inventory

Meeting Summary: Merchant Academy Lecture with Anja Steinnsdottir (BilliAnn)

  • Topic: "What is BtB--and What Isn't--and How to Tell the Difference"

  • Key Details: Anja delivered a thorough, OOC-focused lecture emphasizing faithfulness to John Norman's 38-book Gorean canon. She highlighted the necessity of contextual reading and textual analysis, cautioned against "eisegesis" (reading personal biases into the text), and addressed common misconceptions in SL Gor—such as the true terminology for medical practitioners in the North ("physicians" rather than "healers") and the nuances of bond attire in long halls based on context and free-woman presence. Attendees included Selia, Cougar, and Kati.
