Journal Entry: April 15, 2026 Location: Port Talis Title: Professional Standards and Civic Duty
Today’s focus was entirely on the administrative and collegial responsibilities that come with being a Scribe. I attended the Scribe Caste meeting, and it was heartening to witness the level of professionalism and shared commitment among our colleagues. We spent time reflecting on the recent Sardar Fair, noting its success and the valuable insights gained from the various presentations. It is clear that while there are always challenges in organizing such large-scale events, the intellectual rigor displayed by the Scribes is a testament to our dedication to the caste and our shared history.
We also discussed the future of our meetings and the upcoming Scribe Summit. There is a strong consensus that maintaining these gatherings is essential for keeping our caste connected and ensuring we are all working toward the same standards. I have been tasked with maintaining the notes for these meetings, a responsibility I take seriously; precision in our records is as important as the discussions themselves.
Beyond the formal proceedings, there is a burgeoning sense of community here in Port Talis. Seeing how the different designers, scribes, and magistrates are beginning to organize themselves—ensuring that our libraries are stocked, our registrations are processed, and our professional boundaries are respected—gives me hope that we are building a foundation that will endure. I am still learning the local geography and the particulars of this specific settlement, but I am finding the process of settling in to be quite rewarding. I feel fortunate to be working alongside individuals who respect the gravity of our roles.
To Do:
Transcribe the notes from today’s Scribe Caste meeting and distribute them to the group.
Begin initial planning for the Scribe Summit; reach out to the committee regarding potential lecture topics.
Finalize the welcome packet for new arrivals at the Academy.
Continue the care of the begonias; the current environment in the library is stable, which suits them perfectly.
