The Art of Living in the Shadows

Journal Entry: 2026-05-31 Location: Willow Isle / Tentation Island / Olni Var Mood/Title: The Art of Living in the Shadows

The Thing has officially opened, and the atmosphere across these lands has shifted. The air is thick with the sound of snapping banners, the restless energy of the crowds, and the constant movement of those who seek glory or profit in this temporary convergence. Returning to the encampment at Willow Isle, I found myself surrounded by the sensory overload of the festival—contests, music, and the constant, abrasive chatter of the casuals who seem to think Gor is a playground. I must admit, after the quiet discipline of my own home in Olni, the lack of structure here is wearying.

Still, the night held its own quiet rewards. Sharing mead and song by the fire with those who understand the weight of our ways—Talon, Priya, and the others—was a necessary reminder of why we persist. Talon’s music provided a rare moment of genuine, un-performative beauty in a place otherwise filled with the theater of "prank" competitions and social maneuvering. I have taken note of the new girl’s progress; Sheena continues to serve with a grace that is becoming quite pleasing, and I find that having her near, attentive and observant, allows me to focus on the broader currents. I am watching, learning, and gathering the information that matters, while the rest of the crowd wastes their time on trivialities.

To Do:

  • [ ] Review the notes from the Scribe meetings; the political implications of recent events in the north are becoming more complex, and I need to be prepared.

  • [ ] Continue the training of Sheena; she is showing potential, and I will not allow that potential to be squandered.

  • [ ] Maintain the sanctuary of my office back in Olni; the upcoming transition into the next phase of "The Circle" project requires complete focus.

  • [ ] Ensure that our presence remains observant and disciplined. We are among the "Thorn," and we will remain unpricked by those who seek only to distract us.
