Journal Entry: April 11, 2026 Title: Cultural Disconnects and Setting Standards
Today was an eye-opening exercise in the variance of Gorean interpretation across different homes. Spending time with Father and Lacey, we visited a Tuchuk camp, and the contrast between their practices and the traditions I was raised to uphold was stark. It is deeply frustrating to witness—and to be expected to participate in—practices that ignore the established lore and decorum of our caste. When I see slaves standing to serve Free citizens, or failing to acknowledge the proper hierarchies, it is not merely a breach of etiquette; it is a fundamental breakdown of the social order that keeps our society functional and safe.
We also spent significant time discussing the state of various homes in this region. Many have drifted into what we call "Disney Gor," prioritizing convenience or modern sensibilities over the harsh, realistic tenets of our world. It is exhausting to constantly explain the necessity of our traditions, especially when those in positions of leadership seem more interested in ease than in the preservation of the truth. I am determined, however, to remain a pillar of that truth through my teaching and my own conduct.
I have been finalizing the library archives and working on the Academy’s welcome materials, ensuring that anyone who walks through our doors knows exactly what is expected of them, from the proper way to address a Free person to the standards of conduct required of all who reside here. Father’s protective presence provides me with the safety I need to continue this work, and I am finding that our new living situation is beginning to feel like a stable base for the future. I am still anticipating Thursday's appointment with the cardiologist, but for now, I find peace in the work of the Academy and the quiet, structured life we are building.
To Do:
Continue monitoring the Academy library files; verify that all new students can access the reference materials.
Prepare the lecture on naval strategies for the "War of the Thassa" series.
Ensure all registration documentation is reviewed and organized before the next Council meeting.
Keep the begonias in a stable, temperate environment; they have been quite resilient despite the recent moves.
