The Weight of Anticipation

Journal Entry: April 10, 2026 Location: Port Talis Mood/Title: The Weight of Anticipation

The atmosphere today was noticeably subdued, mirroring the internal unease I have been carrying regarding my health. With my cardiologist appointment only hours away now, I find it difficult to focus entirely on administrative matters or the day-to-day rhythm of the station. I did manage to keep my focus on the routine updates and system maintenance, ensuring our technical foundations—the meters, the HUDs, and the general connectivity—remain in good order. It is a strange comfort, in a way, to be surrounded by the familiar, cold precision of Gorean technology; it requires a level of attention that forces my mind away from the uncertainty of tomorrow.

The station itself continues to be busy, with the usual turnover of residents and the constant activity of the scribe halls, but I felt a need for more space and quiet today. I spent some time ensuring that my files were accessible and the station’s systems were operating without the glitches that have hampered us recently. Everything seems to be aligning well for the week’s upcoming academic sessions, even as I prepare myself for whatever news I might receive tomorrow.

I am hopeful for clarity. The fear of the unknown is a heavy companion, but I am finding strength in the quiet, steady routines I have established here.

To Do:

  • Finalize all lecture notes and materials for the upcoming "War of the Thassa" naval strategy session—having everything prepared will give me one less thing to worry about.

  • Organize and confirm the documentation needed for the upcoming medical appointment.

  • Ensure all personal effects and files are backed up; peace of mind comes from knowing everything is accounted for.

  • Check on the begonias; I want them to look their best, even if I am not at my best.
