Journal Entry: April 19, 2026 Location: City of Lara Title: Reflection and Respite
Today was a much-needed period of quiet after the intensity of the past few days. My appointment with the cardiologist has left me with a lot to process; while I am relieved to have the initial examinations behind me, the uncertainty of what lies ahead continues to weigh on my mind. It is difficult to balance the role of a Magistrate and teacher with the vulnerability of one's own health, yet the routine of the city—the familiar sounds of the marketplace, the orderly structure of our new home, and the simple, grounding act of tending to my begonias—provides a necessary anchor.
I spent time with Father today, and his presence continues to be a steadying force. We are beginning to settle into the rhythms of Lara, and I find that the more I immerse myself in the work of the Academy, the more grounded I feel. I have begun the process of organizing the library files for our new location, ensuring that every notecard is perfectly placed. It is a small task, but one that brings me great satisfaction. Order in one’s surroundings, I have found, often leads to a greater sense of order within oneself.
I am looking forward to the quiet work of the coming days. The pressure of the last week has begun to dissipate, replaced by a cautious optimism that I am exactly where I need to be to focus on my recovery and my craft.
To Do:
Review the cardiologist's findings once the follow-up information is available; keep all medical records secured.
Continue the cataloging process for the Academy library—there is still much to organize.
Monitor the health of the begonias; ensure they are getting sufficient light in their new spot on the balcony.
Begin drafting the opening remarks for the next lecture session at the College.
