The morning began under the shadow of poor time management. I logged on to a bustling city network, entirely intending to read through my prepared lecture for the first cycle of "Wall of Iron – The Red Caste, The Phalanx, and The Code" with my morning coffee. However, a rapid surge of tasks got the better of me, leaving me no time to scrub the text for mistakes.

I settled onto a rounded beige tapestry cushion in the courtyard as my student Layla arrived, expressing her eager anticipation for the class. Constable Balkan Sands and Ixia joined us shortly after. Ixia had a brief laugh at her own expense, realizing her gender marker was still mistakenly set to male from a recent combat training capture-the-flag event. Balkan offered a helpful scribal reminder regarding the plural formatting of kajiras and kajirae, which was a comfort, as my fingers were simply refusing to coordinate smoothly with the slate keyboard today. Jamie McColley completed our small circle, and I delivered the raw curriculum straight from the scrolls. We dissected the mathematical precision of the centuria tiers, the unyielding spatial geometry of locked bronze shields, and the tactical deployment of underhand gladius thrusts before a call to the main gate disrupted our flow.

Needing a complete shift of focus from the morning's administrative strains, I decided to treat myself to some long-overdue home improvements. I traveled out to the commercial galleries at Zen Felicity, browsing through the displays until a beautiful set caught my eye. I purchased Maya’s Marcello Living Room set, waiting patiently for the CasperVend delivery to clear before teleporting back to Olni Var to unpack the triple sofas, armchairs, and the adult-coded fireplace. Finding myself still in a nesting mood, I returned to the vendors a bit later to acquire the matching Venice Dining Table and chairs, successfully deploying the rez-box crate and testing out the texture change materials on the wood frames.

By late afternoon, I wandered back down to the Olni central fire. I arrived just in time to hear Ixia shouting jests over her shoulder about needing extra paga in her blackwine, teasing Aisha to behave herself back in the training kennels. The lighthearted banter quickly dissolved into a much more difficult conversation when Master Slaver Eridain stepped into the Inn with Aisha following at his heel.

With Layla kneeling nearby in quiet service, I openly expressed my intentions to Eridain, stating that I wished to rent Layla for a hand with the ultimate goal of buying her out of the central house. Eridain looked entirely surprised, reminding me that I had just owned a girl two days ago. I explained the sudden transaction with Sheena, but my hopes were met with immediate bureaucratic resistance. Eridain delivered an apology, revealing that it had come to his attention yesterday that Layla is in serious need of a major evaluation. Though she currently stands at level 2, he believes her skills are far more advanced. He promised I would remain at the top of the list once his observations are filed in a day or two, but being left entirely without a servant is an uncomfortable burden I had hoped to avoid.

I dismissed Layla to return to her kennel chore list and set out for a brisk walk through the region to clear my head. My wanderings took me to the Contraption coordinates, where I picked up a few demo folders for a Hunter's Furs outfit and a Coldwind Mantle. I returned to the rustic house just as the sun was setting, settling back onto a peach pillow to rest and plan for the heavy lecture adjustments ahead.
