A Quiet Shift in Perspective

Journal Entry: 2026-05-08 Location: Olni / Olni Var Mood/Title: A Quiet Shift in Perspective

Today has been a day of reflection and necessary adjustments. The constant hum of arrivals and departures in the city serves as a reminder of how dynamic this life truly is, and my own presence here feels more settled now that the initial storm of the move and the unfortunate business with the previous slave girl has passed. I have spent time focusing on the logistics of my new base, ensuring my office is organized, and even acquiring some new furnishings to make the space feel more like my own.

I’ve had a few moments to observe the rhythms of Olni from my patio, and the contrast between my father’s "Old Gor" values and the more modern, perhaps laxer, attitudes of some residents is becoming increasingly clear. It is a challenging environment, but I am finding my footing. My priorities are shifting toward more meaningful engagements—focusing on my responsibilities, my family, and the quality of those I choose to associate with. The noise of the arena and the comings and goings at the gates are just background now; I am learning to filter out what doesn't serve the household's honor or my own goals.

To Do:

  • [ ] Finalize the "Basic Gorean Manners" lesson plan for the next training session.

  • [ ] Follow up with the Scribe caste leadership to ensure my records and status are properly recognized.

  • [ ] Continue to carefully curate the household; quality over quantity is the only way forward.

  • [ ] Carve out some quiet time on the patio—it remains the best place to clear my head and plan my next steps.
