Journal Entry: 2026-05-28 Location: Olni Var Mood/Title: The Quiet Before the Storm
The anticipation for the Thing is palpable, even within the relative quiet of Olni. It seems the city is holding its breath. I held my class today, and while the turnout was smaller than I might have hoped, the discussion was meaningful. Those who took the time to attend—Trygg and others—demonstrate that there remains a thirst for the genuine articles of our culture, amidst the endless parade of costumes and performative nonsense. We covered the nature of the Home Stone again, and it is a topic I never tire of; it is the bedrock of my authority and my identity. Without that anchor, we are all just "unfortunates" drifting through a world that would sooner erase us than understand us.
I have spent the better part of the day refining my administrative tasks, organizing the library, and ensuring my own records are beyond reproach. If the city leadership is distracted by the impending festivals and political maneuvering, then it falls to people like us—the true keepers of the records and the law—to ensure that the heart of the city continues to beat. There is a strange, cold comfort in knowing that while others dance and drink, I am securing the foundations. The storm of the Thing will pass, as all things do, but the work I am doing here will remain. I am steadfast, I am prepared, and I am not easily moved.
To Do:
[ ] Finalize the administrative records for the next Magistrate meeting; my documentation must be the standard by which others are measured.
[ ] Continue drafting the "Voice of Sadar" materials; the clarity of our philosophical origins is the only antidote to the confusion of this era.
[ ] Prepare for the next session in two weeks—I want to ensure the turnout is reflective of the quality of the instruction provided.
[ ] Monitor the household with the same rigor I apply to my scrolls. Complacency is the enemy of honor.
