Mood/Title: Complicated Lineages and Digital Restorations
The day began on a very practical note of modern restoration. After my previous phone suddenly died yesterday morning, I finally purchased a replacement today. I spent a good deal of the afternoon settling back into the house and slowly installing and configuring the necessary applications to get everything working smoothly again.
Once online, Sheena greeted me and introduced a guest she had invited to the estate named Inola—the woman Sheena is hoping to claim as her roleplay "Mother." We brought our conversation out into the light, though a minor slip of my fingers accidentally unlocked Sheena's collar for a brief, startling moment before I quickly secured it again. Inola is an incredibly striking, dark-skinned woman of Tharnan birth with Schendi heritage.
Our discussion quickly turned to a heavy and rather intense backstory. Inola revealed that she had given birth to twins years ago, whom she was forced to surrender, and had just delivered two more newborn children to her current Master a mere two days ago. She explained the rare privilege she holds to see and feed them until their ultimate status is determined by her owner. Stepping out of the roles to speak plainly, Inola detailed an epic, fifteen-year history as a former physician turned outlaw, spy, and "momma bear" menace who had spent years fighting a single-minded war against her children's father until she was eventually cornered and broken to the collar.
While I appreciate that Sheena wants to help her find a sense of family, something about the arrangement feels inherently off to me. As an Elder Magistrate and her Mistress, I am fiercely protective of my little treasure. For now, my ruling is a firm no; I do not want Sheena exposed to that level of potential trouble. Sheena initially expressed how much she admired Inola's protective nature, which required a gentle but direct lesson in proper verbal submission so she understands that my final word is absolute. We smoothed things over beautifully, though a long, unexpected phone call from my real-world sister pulled me away from the screen for quite a while. By the time the call ended, I realized I had completely missed an afternoon visit from Father and both of his girls, which was a true disappointment.
By the end of the evening, Sheena was fighting to keep her eyes open, still curious about my reservations regarding Inola. I gave her my blessing to retire for the night, leaving the quiet halls of Olni behind to rest before tomorrow's upcoming Circle preparations.
To Do:
Schedule a second formal meeting with Inola to evaluate her character further before rendering a final decision on the family lineage request.
Continue mentoring Sheena on precise scribal phrasing and authoritative boundaries.
Review all visual aids and materials for tomorrow's upcoming "War Against Death" physician class.
Leave a message for Father to make up for missing his visit this afternoon.
