Hearth Remodeling and Whispers in the Tavern

 Journal Entry: June 23, 2026

Location: Port Olni Var / Brave New World

Mood/Title: Hearth Remodeling and Whispers in the Tavern

The day began with an expansive trip to the trading markets at Brave New World. I traveled there with Layla, determined to completely reinvent the interior aesthetic of my high-caste residence. The previous kitchen layout simply lacked the right medieval feel, and after testing a few floor samples, I spent the morning acquiring a massive array of primitive masonry counters and fixtures. I purchased the Triine Living Room set, a Country Single Bed for Layla’s quarters, the Bella corner counter, and the Two Fires Kitchen set complete with a spit-roast whole pig. Once the CasperLet receipts cleared, we returned to Olni Var to unpack and align the heavy timber elements.

Unpacking the new kitchen modules turned into a highly amusing, messy endeavor. Layla had to leap out of the way of the swinging blueprints more than once as I toggled the script configurations. The Two Fires hearth was considerably larger than I remembered from the shop displays, prompting a few jests about why two females would ever require such an enormous cooking layout, but the toggling fire-prim system will be magnificent for conserving winter wood. To give the main parlor a welcoming touch, I added a cluster of fresh flowers to the end table. I also monitored our land impact closely—after a few adjustments to the storage cupboards, the central counter successfully dropped to a highly efficient 195 prims, leaving us with a safe five-prim cushion so Layla can retrieve her cherished Relay For Life souvenir bear from the kennels to place upon her new single bed.

Later in the evening, Layla returned from her afternoon duties to share a highly intriguing development from her shift at the tavern. She had encountered a wave of rigid friction from a Master and a kennel sister after choosing to perform her traditional dances fully clothed. It is clear that we must look into acquiring one or two proper slave silks for her tavern nights once her rental hand concludes and she is fully mine.

Layla also passed along some unsettling city gossip. While handling her chores—checking the late-season vegetable yields by the bosk barns, organizing the bakery manifests, and sweeping the Inn common rooms—she observed that Ambassador Talora appeared profoundly distressed and in tears. Layla suspected that a newly acquired kennel slave within the household might be causing severe friction between Talora and her companion, the Master Constable Balkan Sands. It is difficult to say how they are weathering the sudden structural changes within their household, especially since Balkan’s son, Merowin, has only just established his own quarters in Olni.

By the second mark of the night, the candles had burned low, and the outland highways grew dark. Satiated by a massive day of structural adjustments and carrying a curious mind regarding the shifting alignments of the city, I granted Layla my blessing to retire to her new quarters before heading up the stairs to sleep myself.

To Do:

  • Clear out an additional two prims from the parlor display to allow Layla to safely rez her RFL souvenir bear.

  • Browse the local merchant kiosks to source one or two proper earth-toned dancing silks for Layla's upcoming tavern shifts.

  • Formulate a short, five-minute rules curriculum outline to present to Ubar Jarek for the Sunday Open Forum.

  • File the final completion records for Mike's closed incident report to the desks of Falconer and Balkan Sands.

  • Unpack and read the information notecard distributed by Enrico Genosse regarding the VKC pet closures.
