Journal Entry: April 13, 2026 Location: Summer Sun / Port Talis Title: A Sense of Place
Today felt like the first time I could truly breathe in this new environment. Between the logistical work of setting up the Station Academy's resources and the quiet, steady rhythm of the camp, there is a burgeoning sense of normalcy taking hold. Father has been quite active in shaping the space to match his expectations—he is particular about the layout, as one might expect from a man who has commanded so many campaigns—but having his support and oversight makes the work feel more deliberate.
I spent time ensuring the library files are correctly indexed and accessible. It is important to me that when students or residents come to the Academy, they find not just a collection of notecards, but an organized, scholarly environment that reflects the standards we hold ourselves to. We are still in the early stages, but seeing the pieces of our "new home" come together is incredibly gratifying. I am feeling much more settled in this location than I ever did in the city; the air feels clearer here, both literally and figuratively.
I am still carrying the anticipation of tomorrow's appointment with the cardiologist, though I am doing my best to keep my mind occupied with the upcoming lecture series on the War of the Thassa. Staying busy is the best antidote for the anxiety of the unknown.
To Do:
Finalize the naval strategy lecture notes—the War of the Thassa is a dense subject that requires absolute clarity in presentation.
Confirm that all group tags and permissions are active for the new library space to prevent any access issues for students.
Prepare for the cardiologist appointment tomorrow; ensure all paperwork is ready for review.
Tend to the begonias; the change in location has been an adjustment for them, and they require a steady hand to help them re-acclimate.
