Navigating New Territories

Journal Entry: April 14, 2026 Location: Port Talis / Turmus / Varon Title: Navigating New Territories

The day was spent in a constant state of transition, exploring new lands and assessing potential homes. We traveled quite a distance, visiting the Tuchuk camp and various other settlements. It was an educational experience—not just in the geography of these regions, but in the social and practical differences that define them.

The Tuchuk camp was particularly illuminating. It is a harsh, pragmatic environment where the customs regarding property and service are even more rigid than what I have grown accustomed to. Observing the way the Tuchuk warriors and their companions interact—and the swift, uncompromising discipline exercised there—reinforced my own need for caution. It is a reminder that in our world, safety is not a guarantee; it is something that must be vigilantly maintained, both through the strength of one’s allies and the strict adherence to the laws of the hold.

I also spent some time in Varon, reviewing the local administrative setup. It is a sprawling area, and while it lacks the familiarity of my previous posts, it offers a different perspective on how trade and commerce are managed. I am currently cataloging the various registrations, rules, and requirements for the cities we visited, as I want to keep a clear record of where we might find stability. It is becoming increasingly evident that Father is looking for a home that is as secure as it is functional—a place where his company can thrive without the interference of the "Disney" politics that have plagued our recent experiences.

I am tired, yet the work of organizing these details—the rules, the registration forms, and the maps—gives me a sense of purpose. Knowing exactly where we stand and what is expected of us is the first step toward settling in.

To Do:

  • Finalize the review of the "Laws of Caeros" and "Turmus" documentation; file these in the Academy library for future reference.

  • Prepare for the upcoming lecture on the "War of the Thassa."

  • Continue to organize the files and correspondence from today's travels; ensure Father’s questions regarding the "Caste Review" and local contacts are addressed.

  • Tend to the begonias; the moving and travel have been taxing, and they are the only things currently keeping my living space feeling like a home.
