Anticipation and Preparation

 Journal Entry: 2026-05-19 Location: Olni Var Mood/Title: Anticipation and Preparation

The air in Olni feels heavy with anticipation today. The word has spread across the region: The Thing is coming. Long ships gathering, torchfires against the horizon, and that restless energy that only a true Gorean assembly can provoke—it is all beginning. There is a sharp contrast between this looming anticipation and the mundane realities of my own work, yet both serve to keep me focused. While others are distracted by the spectacle, I am using this time to solidify my own foundations. My focus remains on the "Circle" project and the upcoming classes; regardless of the chaos or the festivities, the work of education and the maintenance of our culture cannot be neglected.

I find that the more "organized" or "civilized" these cities claim to be, the more they rely on superficial rules and propaganda posters to maintain order, often failing to grasp the deeper, harder truths of our world. I am content to watch from the sidelines, refining my own household and curriculum. I have no need for the approval of those who wouldn't recognize a true Gorean warrior if he were standing right in front of them, steel in hand. I am preparing for the future—both the upcoming Thing and the long-term project of ensuring our values are passed down with the rigor they deserve.

• [ ] Ensure all materials for the "Voice of Sadar" class are perfectly prepared; the Initiates need to understand the weight of the Omen.

• [ ] Keep my professional records—both Magistrate and Scribe—in impeccable order.

• [ ] Maintain a disciplined household; laziness is the first step toward the very "Disney" weakness I loathe.

• [ ] Observe the activity around the city gates. I want to see which families and factions are truly mobilizing for the Thing, as that will tell me much about where the true power—and the true honor—lies.
