Journal Entry: 2026-05-22 Location: Olni Var Mood/Title: Steadfast in a Shifting World
The news of the Thing approaching has cast a long shadow over the region, yet life in Olni continues its peculiar, often tedious cycle. While others seem swept up in the restless excitement and the endless parade of banners, I find myself retreating further into the work that defines my purpose. There is a sense of inevitability in these gatherings—the music, the contests, the crowds—but for those of us who carry the weight of real responsibility, the "Thing" is less a celebration and more a test of our city's readiness and resolve.
I have spent a significant portion of today reflecting on the nature of our position here. It is becoming increasingly clear that Olni is a place of contrasts, and maintaining one's own standards requires a deliberate, almost defensive posture. I am continuing to focus on the educational project, ensuring that every detail is aligned with the core tenets of our people. If I am to be a Magistrate and a Teacher, I will be one who upholds the truth, not one who bends it to suit the comfort of strangers or the political convenience of the day. The recent events have only served to sharpen my focus. I am here to build something that lasts, something rooted in honor and the law, even if the world around me seems intent on drifting toward something far less stable.

[ ] Continue the research for the "Voice of Sadar" materials; the cultural nuances of the Initiates are vital for my students to grasp.
