Mood/Title: A Short-Lived Courtship and Quiet Sanctuaries
The day began in Olni with a surprising approach from a man named Inch, who offered himself in submission, though time will tell if he possesses the resolve to actually appear for our afternoon meeting.
After checking on the home front—hanging a cherished portrait of my Father and ensuring Sheena had the proper clearances for the estate—we set out for the desert. Aldae Nagy gave us a tour of the Oasis of Lame Kaiila, a beautifully vibrant but quiet outpost struggling with a lack of active souls. We stepped away from the strictures of the roles to speak plainly, sharing thoughts on Gorean chronology, translation machinery, and the frustrations of navigating those who treat this world without the honor and study it demands.
Aldae expressed a desire to court me, speaking of terms and companion respect, and gifted me several reference quills for my office library. However, the discussion quickly grew rigid. He grew demanding, insisting on immediate answers and an absolute stance regarding my Father's traditions before they had even spoken. As I reviewed my records later, memory returned to me—I recalled who he truly was and his past entanglements. The realization brought clarity: the answer is no. I have enough burdens without inviting unnecessary trouble, and so another brief courtship ends before it truly began.
Seeking peace, Sheena and I journeyed to my Father’s Hall in the Fjord. The quiet stone was a welcome sanctuary. Sheena prepared a magnificent, hearty bosk stew with potatoes, carrots, and sweet peas, paired with chilled milk. We shared the meal and a rare, quiet moment of rest, concluding the evening wrapped in the comfort of a gentle cuddle against the creeping cold.
To Do:
Schedule a bath day with Sheena before her upcoming trip.
Schedule dinner with Kael and follow up on library project ideas for Sheena.
Schedule a tour of the south with Aidea Nagy.
Update lesson plans and materials for Thursday's "Ink and Iron" class and Saturday's "War Against Death" class.
Begin the physical making of the family shield now that the design is complete.
Hang the newly acquired Taharian writing, vowel charts, and dictionary signs in the home office.
