The Weight of Steel and the Song of the North

Title: The Weight of Steel and the Song of the North

The "Thing" has reached its peak, and I find myself navigating the chaotic, loud, and often jarring reality of it all. It is a spectacle designed to impress, filled with the clatter of arms, the roaring of crowds, and the constant, restless movement of ships and banners. Yet, despite the noise, I am finding my own rhythm. I have made a conscious choice to observe, to listen, and to carefully curate the information I gather. Whether it is the subtle political jockeying of the various Ubars or the way men like my father navigate these tense, crowded gatherings with a singular, unyielding purpose, there is much to learn.

I continue to focus on my responsibilities in Olni, even amidst the distractions. I have begun mentally planning on moving my work into the new office space in the tower, and it is a relief to have an environment that I can control. My records, my curriculum for the "Circle" classes, and the administrative tasks that keep our city functioning—these are the things that matter when the festival flags are struck and the crowds disperse. I have also begun the process of integrating Sheena more fully into the household; she shows a discipline that is refreshing, and I am ensuring that her training is both rigorous and purposeful.

The political atmosphere remains volatile, and I find myself increasingly wary of those who hide behind technicalities or "OOC" labels to avoid the consequences of their actions. I will continue to keep my own counsel, maintain my records, and ensure that our House remains a sanctuary of order. The "Thing" is a storm, and I am the one who keeps the lighthouse.

To Do:

  • [X] Finalize the administrative files from the latest Scribe meetings; the coordination between cities is a delicate balance, and I must ensure our house is the standard for precision.

  • [ ] Continue Sheena’s training; her development is a reflection of my own standards, and I expect total obedience and discretion.

  • [ ] Monitor the political climate at the Thing. It is a target-rich environment for information, and I must be sure I am capturing the right details for my Magistrate reports.

  • [ ] Maintain my own composure and focus. I am here to learn and to build, not to be swept away by the, at times, frivolous nature of the festivities.
