Journal Entry: April 2, 2026 Location: Ironheart Mood/Title: Administrative Deadlock and the Weight of Authority
Today was filled with both academic demands and unexpected administrative conflict. I began with our 101-level course on the "Roles of Men and Women"—a session that continues to provoke deep reflection among the students. The Natural Order remains the most contentious topic for those unaccustomed to our ways, but it is essential that they understand the harmony we achieve through clearly defined hierarchies. The students’ reports on their social observations should be revealing; I look forward to seeing how they interpret the interactions between the Free and the Bound.
However, the day took a sharp turn when Hakim and Charlotte of the Mirage Advocates approached me. They have been met with a wall of silence from the Head of Caste, Sphere, regarding their registration and ability to practice within the city. It is deeply frustrating that my own communications to the Head of Caste have gone ignored, and I find myself in a position of responsibility without the full cooperation I require from my own colleagues.
Asher Laurent stepped in, offering a bridge to the Governor to bypass the current impasse, which is a relief. I am tired of the lack of communication within the Caste of Scribes; if we are to be the keepers of law and record, we must be the first to set the example of accountability.
To Do:
Review the Rationing Decree assignments from Monday's class.
Prepare for the upcoming naval lecture—the War of the Thassa requires careful study of our strategic past.
Continue to monitor the library's accessibility; I want to ensure that the new library room is fully cataloged and functional by the week's end.
Check on the begonias—they are a quiet comfort amidst the noise of the office and administrative politics.
