The Weight of Steel and Responsibility

Journal Entry: 2026-05-16 Location: Olni Var Mood/Title: The Weight of Steel and Responsibility

It has been a quiet day of observation. The city continues its erratic rhythms, and I find myself retreating more often to the sanctuary of my home, surrounded by the work I have put into these rooms. There is a distinct difference between the noise of the city—often hollow and performative—and the quiet strength of the life I’ve built with those I truly trust. My father and Izzy continue to be my primary counsel, and I am finding that their perspective is the only one that remains consistently aligned with the code I live by.

The political currents in Olni remain unpredictable, and while others focus on superficial gestures and petty rules, I am quietly consolidating my own efforts. The educational project, "The Circle," is moving forward, and having the library and other facilities as potential venues for my classes is a relief. I have realized that my role here, whether officially sanctioned by a leadership I barely respect or not, is to be a keeper of the old ways. If the city desires to be something else, they will eventually find that true Gorean culture cannot be simply legislated away or replaced by modern distractions. My resolve to teach, to mentor, and to uphold the standard remains as firm as the steel I carry.

To Do:

  • [ ] Finalize the "Voice of Sadar" lesson materials; this is a critical topic that requires careful, precise delivery.

  • [ ] Continue monitoring the city's legal atmosphere. If the leadership continues to prove themselves dishonorable, I will be ready to act on Father's advice.

  • [ ] Keep a close eye on the household’s security and the training of our new associates—there is no room for error in our house.

  • [ ] Prepare for the upcoming classes next week; I want these sessions to be the cornerstone of my presence here in Olni.
