The Dissection of Ambition

Title: The Dissection of Ambition

Another cycle of the "Thing" has passed, and I find myself increasingly convinced that the true value of these gatherings lies not in the public spectacles, but in the private conversations and the quiet observation of those who wield influence. Today’s lecture on the nature of the Black Caste—the distinction between the Warrior’s pursuit of glory and the Assassin’s pursuit of success—was particularly illuminating. It serves as a necessary reminder that in this world, honor and efficacy are rarely the same thing, and a person of high caste must know the difference to survive.

The debates regarding "rules," "sim boundaries," and the blatant misuse of meta-knowledge by those who wish to shield their targets from the reality of the Gorean game were tedious, but expected. It is a recurring issue; when individuals cannot accept the consequences of their station, they hide behind OOC labels and geographical technicalities. I am refining my own methods to ensure that I am never left vulnerable to such maneuvering. My focus is and must remain on the long view—the preservation of our history, the education of the next generation, and the maintenance of my own household’s integrity. If others wish to waste their time arguing about "sandal-untied" tricks or the validity of a target fleeing to a restricted zone, let them. I am building a foundation that does not depend on the whims of a neighboring sim or the convenience of a temporary truce.

To Do:

  • [ ] Continue the meticulous documentation of the Magistrate’s records. The recent discussions regarding caste laws have given me fresh ideas for the "Circle" curriculum.

  • [ ] Keep a close eye on the household’s security. With so many strangers passing through the region for the festival, it is the opportune time for opportunists to strike.

  • [ ] Finalize the notes on the "Voice of Sadar." The more I study the silence of the Priest-Kings, the more I realize how much of Gorean history is truly built upon that very silence.

  • [ ] Maintain my own composure. The "Thing" is a test of patience, and I will not be the one to fail it.
